Award-Winning Construction Law Firm Opens Office in Charlotte, NC

Lead Attorney Aims to Help Disadvantaged Businesses Grow

CHARLOTTE, NC, JULY 2018 — Cotney Construction Law (CCL) is expanding its operations into North Carolina and has officially opened an office in Charlotte. Attorney Justin Hampton will spearhead CCL’s Charlotte expansion with a focus on representing clients in matters dealing with liens, bonds, government contracts, and North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) claims to name a few.

Hampton’s familiarity and history with North Carolina makes him the ideal candidate to lead CCL’s newest office. Hampton attended North Carolina State University from 2000 to 2005 and earned a JD/MBA at the Campbell University School of Law in 2010. He later spent several years as an Assistant Attorney General representing NCDOT in cases involving heavy-highway contractors and subcontractors.

“Justin is a skilled attorney with extensive experience in construction law, and an outstanding record of community involvement and public service,” said Trent Cotney, CEO of Cotney Construction Law. “We’re excited to have him on the ground in Charlotte to help serve professionals throughout North Carolina in all levels of the construction industry.”

Improving the state of Charlotte’s construction industry is at the top of Hampton’s agenda. He hopes to engage with the community by spreading his knowledge in a series of workshops designed in conjunction with North Carolina Public Works that aim to bolster the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program in Charlotte. DBE helps women, minorities, and veterans have a fair opportunity to work on federally-assisted building projects.

Hampton is active in the construction law community. He is a member of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), and United Minority Contractors of North Carolina (UMCNC). His experience helping minority-owned construction companies brings valuable skills and expertise to the Charlotte area.
